4. It's not easy to leave your past behind you.

Leaving your past behind you is a very difficult thing to do. In the story The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby, has trouble shaking his past no matter what he tries. In this paper I will tell you what Gatsby tried to overcome, about his lifelong love for Daisy, and why it was hard for him.

In the novel The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby, had many things that he tried to leave in his past. One bad thing from the past was that he was an illegal bootlegger. This haunted him through his whole life and eventually caused Daisy to not like him as much. Another thing that Gatsby could not leave in his past was his love for Daisy. He could not forget her no matter what he did and this caused hem to basically live for her. These things he couldn't leave behind him made his life very difficult because the only reason he lived was for Daisy and his bootlegging caused her to not like him as much so there was no winning for him.

In conclusion Jay Gatsby could never overcome his past and this caused him to live a life for someone else who never loved him. Have you left your past behind you?
